A Message to Garcia Essay

"A Message to Garcia" is an essay that was written over 100 years ago but is still relevant today.  It talks about how people are too lazy to do what they're told. Here the author, Elbert Hubbard shows how when Rowan was asked to deliver the message to General Garcia he did it right away. Hubbard was comparing Rowan to everyone else who claimed it was too hard to take on the task. Today it's a lot worse as some people complain about having to walk to another room to get something. The author was stating that the world needs more Rowan's. By that he means, people who are willing to do any task they're given without complaining. Today people are lazy and too tired to even do the simplest things so I definitely think we need more Rowan's in the world to push us to do more things. I agree with Elbert's view on the situation. People need to be asked multiple times to get something done and still won't do it. By pushing them to get it done we as a nat

Syllabus

Today we learned about the rules and read over the syllabus. Some rules we must follow are that we must keep phones in the basket. No playing games on your computer and use it responsibly. No extra credit is allowed and you are expected to work hard throughout the semester. We are required to bring a composition notebook to every class and so far I have not forgotten it. We had the windows open so we could hear the band playing pretty loudly. We talked about how many points each assignment was worth and how frequently we would have tests and quizzes. We were all required to email Mr. Schick the address of our blog. So, we took some time to see if everyone sent theirs in. but one of my classmates, Vlad couldn't get his to send. Finally though, at the end of class he got it to work.

Meeting new people, teachers and adjusting to the schedule is what made my first day so exciting. I'm used to having lunch in my homeroom with about thirty people so lunch was completely overwhelming and finding a place to sit is one of the most nerve wracking things I've ever experienced. Classes though, I settled into pretty easily so it wasn't much of a worry for me. One struggle I had was opening my locker. I come from a school where we didn't have any sorts of locks so it's been hard for me to adjust to having to do a combination every time I want to open my locker. Luckily, I haven't gotten lost yet which I thought would for sure happen. To me, all of the levels look th
